In particular, “Metal Men” was never actually envisioned as an “album”, but was rather more a collection of songs that just kind of happened. The material was mostly experimental in nature, recorded either via bouncing two stereo cassette decks back and forth, or recorded on a Tascam 244 4-track deck. Studio space consisted of various apartments where I lived at the time, and believe me, my microphone collection was “limited” at best.

“Some Summers” followed the same theme, but this one was recorded over the course of a particularly great summer, during which there were some significant goings-on in my life. Again recorded on the Tascam 244, again in apartments. The outboard gear was a little bit more extensive, so things started sounding a little better, but one only learns by doing…
