Yeah, I know, I know… you’re muttering to yourself “what’s a big strapping guy like this doing, photographing dolls?!”

Well, the fact of the matter is that Juli has been collecting dolls for years… and one day, seeking some reason to pull out my Nikons, I happened to consider using the dolls as subjects. When you view the dolls simply as “talent”, the advantages of using them over real people becomes evident:

1. They don’t complain about the long hours of setup
2. They don’t draw Union Scale (or super-model scale, for that matter)
3. They do what you tell them to
4. Their makeup is always on

So, I pulled out those old Nikons and started shootin’. Somewhere, in the chaos of my home, there is a photo album of my original work which featured Barbie, Francie, Teresa, Midge, etc. (I’m a Francie man, myself… the rest were from Juli’s collection).

Then, as Juli branched into other areas of collecting, I followed with the camera. Along the way came the digital medium, and Photoshop. Now, it’s a whole new world, and big fun.

Have a look - but please read this first!

I've posted these images as pretty large files, and although there are several pages of them, there are a lot of graphics to load on each page.

Unless you have a high-speed Internet Connection, I'd recommend you plan on having a cup of coffee or a cocktail as these pages load - they will take roughly forever to download.
